Midway announces Hot Brain for PSP

By the looks of it, Midway Games is targetting handheld consoles right now. It was only yesterday when the developer announced Touchmaster for DS, a collection of mini games based on coin-operated arcade machines. The company announced today another handheld title – this time for PSP – that is reminiscent of Brain Age.

Hot Brain is currently being handled by Midway’s San Diego studio and is focused on five different categories namely logic, memory, math, language, and concentration. In a nut shell, the objective of the game is to get the highest “brain temperature”, but it remains to be seen how all these will play together. But Midway Games Chief Marketing Officer Steve Allison somehow gave a preview.

With Hot Brain for PSP, we’re able to tap into our experience with the casual market to create games that work perfectly with the unique controls and features of the portable system. The title will be able to provide quick three-minute gameplay experiences or extended play-session with puzzles, card games, brain teasers, trivia and more.

As for now, there’s only little information about Hot Brain. Gameplay, accordingly, is based on simple icon selections and is supported by a number of single and multiplayer game modes for up to four players total via ad hoc. The different game modes include Practice Mode, Test Mode (the official single-player challenge), Brain Race (timed competitive multiplayer), and Think Tank (cooperative multiplayer).

Hot Brain is expected to hit retail stores this summer.
