Nier was supposed to be Xbox 360-only

According to him, when they started developing Nier, they only had the Xbox 360 console in mind. However, later on in the process, the decision to make it also for the PS3 came up. He also said that they did encounter some difficulties “in implementing a multi-platform deployment, during the early part of the build.”
At the end of the day, it looks like Square Enix made the right call bringing it to the PS3 as Nier reached 7th place in the Japanese charts, selling some 150,000 copies. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 version didn’t even make it to the top 50.
