Nine New Screenshots of 9 Dragons: The Brotherhood of Thieves

Acclaim, developer of the greatly anticipated Asian martial-arts MMORPG, 9 Dragons, has released nine new screenshots. These images depict one of the clans, known as the Brotherhood of Thieves (though judging from a couple of them, there’s a few sisters in there as well).

Clans in 9 Dragons are similar to guilds and are quite diverse. They range from the all-female Sacred Flower Clan to the males-only Shaolin clan of Buddhist monks who strive to avoid killing and shedding blood (although breaking an opponent’s bones is apparently OK). There is also a League of Beggars and a clan known as the Wu-Tang, who function as the Emperor’s eyes and ears.

The Brotherhood of Thieves was ancient China‘s answer to those fine Saxon brigands of Sherwood Forest, who fought and stole from corrupt tax collectors and used the proceeds to feed the poor. They have, sadly become less like Robin Hood and more like Tony Soprano in recent days (*sigh*…) Still – and perhaps perversely – their traditional farewell phrase is “Take what you will, share what you can!

In any event, here’s a rogues’ gallery. Click on the thumbnails to see the entire image.
