No PSP price cut

The PSP

The guys from Eurogamer found this one. Sony says that they have no immediate plans to cut the price of the PSP in Europe or the United States. They managed to contact a European PSP spokesperson who said that the handheld still “represents great value for money” because of the combination of movie, music, photo, internet, and games support now offered by the latest updates to the PSP system software.

Earlier SCEA‘s John Koller told Reuters, “We don’t need to cut the price.”  According to him, the company should instead focus on introducing new consumers to the capabilities of the PSP.

These comments fly in the face of the thousands of PSP bashers/haters out there in the internet. While we here at QJ don’t necessarily agree with the anti-PSP wave, we are here to report the news, and the news is that a lot of resentment is out there.
It seems that no matter how many times Sony announces that there will be no PSP price cuts, the rumors just keep on coming and Sony execs just keep on going to the press to deny cuts. Perhaps the PS3 launch will turn things around. Maybe upcoming games will liven things a little. Hopefully stuff like GTA: VCS or Metal Gear Portable Ops will serve to silence the haters.

Well here’s what we all can surely say: “thank god for homebrew.”
