What you don’t know yet is that this article won’t be about Modern Warfare 2 (Xbox 360, PS3, and PC). It’s about Singularity, the all-new-time-shifting action title from creators of Wolfenstein and Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Raven Software.

What’s Modern Warfare 2 got to do with Singularity? The latter is getting delayed because – and here we go back full circle – Modern Warfare 2 is so hot that Activision’s got its hands full handling it.

Revealed an Activision spokesperson to GameSpot, “The level of excitement for Infinity Ward‘s Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first-person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010.”

Man, it must be such a bummer to be bumped down the calendar. “We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a ‘must-have’ title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”

Then again, maybe it’s all for the best too. Considering how big MW2 is expected to be, it would be futile for the devs to try and squeeze even a little bit of attention from Activision. Cos let’s face it, between the two, MW2 is the bigger and more profitable title.

Plus, at least they won’t have to share in the spotlight (more of picking up leftover pieces, actually) of the war shooter title. Singularity will be in nobody’s shadow but its own.

Singularity is coming out for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 early next year.

Here’s a video too of the game from its E3 2009 stage demo:
