Surprise! Phoenix Wright 2 still has a couple of months to go before he practices law on North American DS (release date: November) when lo and behold, Phoenix Wright 4 is already making the media buzz circuit in Japan! Just to clarify things, Phoenix Wright 4 is a new entry, not a remake.

Known in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban 4, the game is set seven years after Gyakuten Saiban 3 (GBA).

In Gyakuten Saiban 4, Phoenix Wright takes a back seat to another lawyer, Housuke Odoroki, who will be introduced in the game.

Early reports say some characters from Gyakuten Saibans 1-3 will also make court appearances on this latest title.

According to the the game’s director and scenarist, Takumi Shu, the game has been revamped for the DS and will take full advantage of the console’s touchpen. The buzz also says crime scenes will be rendered in 3-D, with the ability to change angles in real-time.

Gyakuten Saiban 4 is still in development but Capcom hopes to get this out before the end of the year. In Japan, that is.
