The wonder team of Wii homebrew developer who brought us the Wii64 Nintendo 64 emulator for the Wii is now about to set the Wiibrew scene ablaze again. This time, they’re shooting for another golden platform to emulate on the Wii: the PSOne.

WiiSX, as the PS1 emulator is to be called, is still in its work-in-progress status. It’s actually a side-project that Emu_Kidid and Sepp256 are working on, with Tehpola helping out on some stuff, while the Wii64 project is still being perfected.

So what’s the current development status of WiiSX? Here’s what Emu_Kidid said in an interview with TehSkeen:

Basic Input and CD-Rom support are somewhat working right now, however they both contain numerous bugs we are aware of. // The only part which hasn’t been ported at all yet is the sound processing unit (SPU). It’s not necessarily needed to get things tested but of course will get done eventually.

Emu_kidid also hints that Wiimote support is “pretty much a given these days” and that Classic Controller and the Nunchuk combo may be possible in the future. You may read the rest of the interview in the Via link below. But for now, a demo video to tease all of us:
