“Races” Section of Archlord Website is Live

races

Welcome to ArchLord’s wonderful world of “delightful humans, fierce orcs and sexy Moon elves.”  If you can deal with the web site’s tortuously slow download, you’ll liable to learn everything you ever wanted to know about Chanta’s races (and maybe a few things you didn’t).

For example, you probably knew that Moon elves are the oldest of the three races, as well as the longest lived.  They also like to show a fair bit of skin (the “sexy” part, I suppose). You may be surprised, however to learn that they live in a rigidly defined, hierarchical class-structured society (almost like castes), and that the wearing of clothing inappropriate to one’s class, or having amorous feelings for one of a different social class is punishable by death.

Orcs are about what you’d expect – warlike, drooling, monosyllabic, meat eating troglodytes who like to smash things. Their lives are, not surprisingly, “nasty, brutish and short” – but they appear to have a class of Mages, interestingly enough.

Humans, in this world, seem to be the most interesting of the lot – relative newcomers to Chanta, they were enslaved by Orcs for about 500 years.  Being the most frail of the three races, they put a lot of effort into their armor, weapons and shelters, and have especially excelled at the latter. Understandably, they are also the most spiritual of the three races, having come to depend on the gods for protection. (One wonders why this hasn’t devolved over the centuries into jihads, crusades, Inquisitions and holy wars… but I digress…)
