Rate Point to launch own Second Life rating system
The Lampoc Record informs that a startup, the billing itself as the Better Business Bureau, are aiming to provide a rating system for avatars in Linden Lab‘s Second Life. The beta version of the free downloadable ratings program will be released by RatePoint Inc. on Monday.
RatePoint users will be asked to fill out a short online form to identify their avatars, and then they can start rating others. The software should prevent one avatar from ranking another multiple times, and the rankings given should be very visible above avatar’s heads.
One has to note though, that there are reports that Linden Labs themselves are having some trouble getting its users to to embrace its own rating system. Moreover, it is unclear if the RatePoints system will ultimately work as it may be trumped by an improved iteration of Linden Lab’s rating system.
Given the numerous acts of delirium that most SL denizens are prone to committing, would they even bother to get rated?
