Prepare to mix up some syncopated tunes from the latest Nintendo DS homebrew application, courtesy of developer Clone45. Entitled “repeaterDS”, this interesting music app allows you to play various pre-rendered sound samples by drawing on the DS screen and controlling its playback offset.

To give you a better idea of how the homebrew app works, here are the different features of repeaterDS:

  • Control repeat length and offset using the stylus
  • Record and playback your gestures to create repeating stuttering noise
  • Shift your recorded gestures in real-time to create evolving patterns
  • Load in your own sounds
  • BPM settings

The program includes some very versatile features, which allow you to adjust the way your samples are played. Drawing with the stylus enables you to control sample playback. The vertical axis controls the repeat length, while the horizontal axis controls the playback offset into the sample.

You can find more detailed instructions on how to install and use the various features of repeaterDS on the source site’s documentation page. If that’s not enough to entice you, the developer has prepared two demo videos of the application in action.
