Approximately thirty thousand of Tishman Speyer’s new, multicolored LEDs will edge out the traditional incandescent light bulbs that have normally been used on the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in years past.

With this new energy-efficient alternative, Tishman Speyer hopes to cut the Christmas tree’s electricity consumption down from the normal 3,510 kilowatt hours per day  to 1,297 kilowatt hours per day.

On top of that, Tishman Speyer are readying their recently unveiled array of solar panels. The solar panels will provide the electricity for one of the roofs of the Rockefeller Center complex.
