Rumor: Virtual Console Games Bundled In Packs?

virtual consoleThe latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM-US Edition) is said to have two Wii-related rumors that’ll surely spread like wildfire, just like any other rumors relating to next-gen consoles. Rumor has it that Virtual Console games will be bundled with certain games.

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months, you might have missed Nintendo’s announcement about the Wii Virtual Console. It’s a videogame download service offered by Nintendo, accessible to users of the upcoming console. It’s said to be the “video game version of Apple’s iTunes music store.” It will feature classic titles from past Nintendo consoles – from NES to the N64. But it doesn’t stop there as the service will also offer titles from Sega Mega Drive/Genesis and PC Engine/TurboGrafx 16. The Virtual Console may also be used to get new original content, pretty much the same concept as Xbox Live Marketplace.

It’s a service that’ll surely lure gamers to purchase a Wii, but if the rumor of games being bundled with other games turn out to be true, we think that many gamers would be put off by this offer. We don’t mind bundled games, but we’d rather get the ones we really like.

The other rumor is that Luigi‘s Mansion is in development for the Wii. If you would recall, the game was a launch title for the Nintendo GameCube. Though we certainly welcome a Luigi game for the Wii, it’s still best to take these rumors with a grain of salt.
