Russell on LOTRO development in Europe

Sam RussellIf only for Ms. Sam “Satine” Russell, I’d pay more attention to Lord of the Rings: Shadows of Angmar. I bet the first thing that prompted you to look at this article is the picture of the cute girl on the right, more than the game itself. Anyway, she is the Senior Community Liaison Manager from Codemasters Online Gaming, She takes care of LOTRO‘s European community and players.

While I’m hoping that she’d take care of me too, I have to go down to business. Russell was recently interviewed regarding the game and its pertinent matters. First of, she mentions that LOTRO will be localized into three different languages – English, French and German. Regarding launch matters, Russell shared this:

LOTRO will be launched in North America and Europe near simultaneously. We definitely want to keep the gap to a minimum and aim to release in Europe just a few days after it goes live in the US. The game will also launch in Asia soon afterwards.

Furthermore, while the final price for the monthly fee is still to be determined, Russell mentioned that several payment options (direct debit, credit cards, ELV, World Pay, bank transfer, and game cards) were already finalized for the EU market. Aside from those, digital distribution is not something Turbine is veering away from.

Russell then moved on to discuss more serious matters. According to her, LOTRO will also feature scripted events just like other MMOs. The community liaison manager explained:

If you mean will we have in-game events that are pre-planned and have a story to them, then yes! Alchemic Dream, as our in-game support and events team, is eager to get started with some wonderful experiences for our LOTRO players.

Sam Russell then finished the interview by sharing how lucky she feels to be the community manager for LOTRO. Little does she know how lucky and happy the whole LOTRO fans are to have her on their side.
