Safety first: GAME Stores to hold “breakfast” PS3 launch instead

PlayStation 3 - Image 1With the Europe PS3 launch slated for this Friday, GAME Stores Group Ltd (a European retailer) has opted to hold a breakfast launch instead. Considering the dangers of taking home a GDP 424.99 worth (for pre-order, around US$ 832) piece of gaming equipment, it just might be a good move for safety’s sake.

GAME Stores Group Ltd‘s flagship store at Oxford Street have heeded the concerns of LondonÂ’s Metropolitan Police and will open the store at 7 a.m. instead of the midnight launch on March 23. Gamers will have access to public transportation and the relative safety of broad daylight to take their newly acquired consoles home.

The first 150 gamers who pre-ordered the PS3 will be invited to the store and they will be treated to a breakfast of bacon butties, pastries and coffee, and Sony goodie bags. The store will be open to all customers at 9 A.M. GAME’s marketing director, Anna Macario said, “The launch of the PS3 is a big deal to our customers. We are managing the launch so it is safe for them, and the only thing they have to concentrate on is securing their new console.”
