An anonymous source from MTV News confirmed that the newly trademarked DJ Hero will soon be seeing action. Gameplay includes scratching up popular mash-ups using a specialized turntable peripheral, created just for the game.
It has been noted that the new title is turning out to be a “licensing nightmare”. However, due to the merger with Vivendi, Activision Blizzard now has direct access to the Universal Music Group, hopefully easing the transition of getting popular licensed brands into the game.
DJ Hero may not be the first of its kind (with Beatmania debuting on arcades and the PS2 a while back), but it will be interesting to see what a rhythm game based on a DJ setup will look like on the next-gen platform.
