Sony asks FCC to rename revised reports of mystery unit

Sixaxis - Image 1In a recent request sent to the FCC, the American Telecommunications Certification Body (probably through Sony‘s initiative) was spotted asking the communications body to revise the titles of the test reports that it submitted for a product not yet released.

This is particularly true, for instance, with regard to the revision of WLAN and BT (Bluetooth) reports for the device under FCC ID: AK8CBEH1000 (of model number CECHG01), which was revealed previously.

Now many seem to believe that this “model number” actually represents a new controller and that it was changed to disguise the unit that was tested.

Unfortunately, the image of the model specifications sticker plainly points toward a new PlayStation 3 unit – probably a new SKU that analysts have been whispering about.

In contrast, the new Dual Shock 3 controller was revealed recently by SCE President Kazuo Hirai at the Tokyo Game show, but the one spotted in the FCC website did not seem to be the same thing showed in Japan. We’ll keep you updated for more. For the meantime, you may read the letter in portable document format, provided through the Read link below.
