Spielberg Prepares for WoW Picture?

Steven SpielbergApparently, there are unconifrmed news circulating that Steven Spielberg director of such iconic movies such as E.T., Empire of the Sun, and Jaws, is now being set to direct a movie adaptation of the popular MMO, World of Warcraft.

A bit farfetched huh? Considering that the WoW movie does not seem like the type of movie for a director of his status to even consider, let alone pile on top of other stuff he has in the works (like Indiana Jones 4). Also video game adaptations have yet to receive mainstream prestige, although some did well on the box office, the “Alone in th Dark (starring Christian Slater and Tara Reid)” stigma pretty much still sticks.

The movie is expected to hit some time around 2009 so we’ll see about that. Whether Spielberg takes a gamble with WoW or someone else does is something that we’ll know in the future. How about you? What do you think of Spielberg directing the WoW movie? Would you rather have someone else direct it? Let us know through your comments.
