Square Enix develops new vintage game for wine lovers on the DS

Square Enix releases Beginners Wine DS, a game for wine connoiseurs, for the Nintendo DS - Image 1Fancy yourself a glass of Chardonnay or perhaps a vintage Beaujolais Nouveau? Well, you don’t have to be over eighteen (or twenty-one, depending on where you’re living) to play the latest game developed by Square Enix to cater to those who fancy themselves wine connoisseurs.

Beginners Wine DS is a handheld game for the Nintendo DS which gives players the chance to play the knowledgeable wine aficionado. You can try your hand at choosing which wine goes with what food over a romantic candle-lit dinner or even see if you know how to swirl a glass full of red the right way.

Included in the game is a handy database of 120 selected bottles, a glossary, a quiz and a guide to bluffing knowledge about wine. Beginners Wine DS is slated to be released this November 15 in Japan. This coincides with the release of this year’s batch of Beaujolais Nouveau, a globally seasonal wine. It’s still unsure whether the game will be released in the States or not, but regardless you don’t have to worry about people asking for your ID if you ever decide to buy the game.
