Star Wars Galaxies To Be Gobbled Up By Black Hole Even With New Retail Package

Too dramatic, I know, but that seems to be the fate of Star Wars Galaxies even with the new retail package bound to be released this November.

As a fan of Star Wars movies (the first trilogy, people), I’m inclined to like the games based on them and on the book, so Star Wars Galaxies was an instant hit for me. But with all the major changes they made to the game (rules, gameplay, etc.), a lot of its players started having doubts about the game and its future – some of them plainly stopped playing.

This major redesign annoyed the core audience of Star Wars Galaxies (imagine gathering some items that ended up being worthless after the changes), and it’s even surprising that there are still some who cling on to the game.

LucasArts and Sony Online Entertainment are now trying to get back all the gamers they lost into playing the game again. A new version of the game will be coming out this November. It will include the game and all the expansions for only $29.99. But even with this seemingly great deal, would Star Wars Galaxies be brought back to its glorious gaming days? I don’t think so.
