Super Air Zonk Wii Virtual Console release date announced

U.S. based Wii gamers can expect Hudson Soft‘s Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly-Paradise to hit the Virtual Console this November 19 for 800 Wii points. Originally released in 1993 on the TurboGrafx CD, this game is the sequel of Air Zonk and features new levels, assistants, and enemies.

U.S. based Wii gamers can expect Hudson Soft‘s Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly-Paradise to hit the Virtual Console this November 19 for 800 Wii points. Originally released in 1993 on the TurboGrafx CD, this game is the sequel of Air Zonk and features new levels, assistants, and enemies.

The game retains the same side-scrolling shoot-em-up gameplay of the original Air Zonk. The controls are still spot on and players now have access to some new tricks when facing off against the minions of King Drool.

Unfortunately, the developers of this game decided to do away with parallax scrolling (a computer graphics technique which gives the illusion of depth in 2D video games) which lead many people to say that it was not as graphically good as the previous game.

TurboGrafx fans out there who haven’t gotten enough of Air Zonk should consider downloading Super Air Zonk: Rockabilly Paradise when it comes out on November 19. Otherwise, you might want to try out the downloadable demo of the game before spending your Wii points.
