The Koss Cobalt: Wireless Headphones for Everything

Cobalt

The audiophone people over at Koss have come out with the Cobalt, a brand new wireless Bluetooth headphone that does pretty much everything you expect of something wireless these days.

The Cobalt lets you pick up a signal from almost any source, from iPods to your cellphone, as the whole package comes with a ton of accessories to help connect it to your gadgets.

In addition to the headphones, you get an audio transmitter, a USB Bluetooth dongle, a charger system and, somewhat ironically, an extension cable. This pretty much covers a whole lot of ground, unless your house is built with inch-thick concrete-and-steel walls, which may just force you to use a regular headphone set-up. At the same time, it can also pick up your phone signal if you want it to, a practice that seems redundant since you probably will need to put the phone close to your face to speak into it, anyway.

Despite those redundancies, it’s quite all-purpose. Unfortunately, it costs a ton too. Approximately $180 seems like such a steep price for a set of wireless headphones, even if they do have an 8-hour battery life.
