Tighter security on hand-carried consoles in airports implemented
Do you travel frequently and take your consoles along with you? Take note that the Transport Security Administration (TSA) has tightened security on electronic devices, including hand-carried consoles in airports.
Hand-carried electronic devices such as DVD players and full-sized consoles (Sony PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii) now need to be taken out of luggage for separate X-ray screening. There’s no need to fear, though. Security personnel will only subject your beloved consoles to a separate X-ray screening, and that’s it. They won’t take it apart to check for bombs.
The handheld consoles such as the Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable are not affected. Well, as long as it does not do any harm to our consoles, security is always good. “This change brings just a little more uniformity to our policy and helps our screeners do their job better,” said TSA spokesperson Jennifer Peppin.
Other policy changes include permitting lighters to be brought on-board aircraft as well as more than three ounces of breast milk.
