Virtua Tennis 3 to use SIXAXIS tilt

will it work?

Eurogamer reports that SEGA has recently announced that the PS3 version of Virtua Tennis 3 will support the SIXAXIS‘ tilt function to move around the court and play shots. They say that though the tilt function is optional, if you do use it, you’ll be able to move the player around the court by tilting the pad. You’ll also be able to serve the ball and play shots using the controller like a tennis racket. Basically swinging the controller up quickly to lob, down quickly to slice, and horizontally for top spin.

Given the slight differences in motion sensing, and the different nature of the controller, it isn’t exactly the same as Wii Sports Tennis. But there is enough motion sensing in there to invite comparisons to the Wii game. I guess what will set Virtua Tennis apart from the Wii version is the graphics. If only swinging around a PS3 controller wasn’t so un-PlayStation, but that’s just my personal sentiment. What do you guys think about this?

Virtua Tennis 3 is set to be released for the Xbox 360, the PC, the PS3, and the PSP next spring.
