Warhammer Online: battle at Gates of Ekrund recreated on tabletop

In case you guys didn’t know, EA Mythic‘s upcoming MMO Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning‘s origin came from a tabletop miniatures game. To bridge the gap between the miniatures and the online realm, a few devs gave tried out their skills by having the Battle at the Gates of Ekrund. Read more on this in the full article.

In order to bridge the tabletop miniature games and the MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, the people from EA Mythic and Games Workshop decided to recreate a battle at the Gates of Ekrund.

John Schaffer from Games Workshop crafted a scaled model of the ancient Gates of Ekrund. He based his work on a few screenshots that were from the MMO’s in-game environment. Once it was finished, Adam Gershowitz and John Rudy from EA Mythic were tasked to participate in the battle.

This event was a heated battle between the Dwarfs and the greenskins, namely the Orcs and Goblins. Both players waged war as if they were actually playing the online version on the game. Their strategies were as dynamic as it could be. After six rounds, the army of the Dwarfs were able to repel the invading forces of the greenskins.
