In a recent “State of the Game” post, Mark Jacobs, VP and General Manager for EA Mythic, restated the different points that led to the delay of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning. He also addressed the theory that the game was delayed because of the studio’s restructuring.

Most of the reasons he gave for Warhammer Online‘s delay were ones that he had already given during a recent interview. Jacobs said that the studio wanted to make sure they had all the features they wanted to put in as well as all the polish. He also stated that the new Beta testing in December is still on schedule.

He also directly addressed the rumor that the game was delayed because EA Mythic laid off some people in a recent restructuring. He stated that this is not so, and that in fact it was only a normal step in operations:

While we did let several people go from the Warhammer Online team, the number was *quite* small and their loss had no impact on our development schedule. These layoffs were part of our normal studio operations and a necessary step for EA Mythic to ensure that we have a focused and committed team working on WAR going forward.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is slated to be released in mid-2008.
