NBA 2k7 Features Announced

All about style

2k Sports announced today new standard-setting features for NBA 2K7. Among the expected enhancements to the series, like better arena lighting, more camera angles, better “arena atmosphere,” arena specific crowd animations, arena specific mascot and dance routines, 2k7 was particularly proud of their “Signature Style” (something we’ve already found a video for) game feature.

Greg Thomas had this to say: “Through Signature Style, gamers will be able to distinguish NBA players by their movement, positioning, shooting animations, and behavior. 2K Sports is setting the standard with NBA 2K7.”

They also imply that the “Signature Style” of each player goes beyond aesthetics, that somehow the incorporation of Steve Nash’s dribble, or Shawn Marion’s fade-away jumpshot into the animation will actually affect gameplay.

You’ve already seen from the screenshots the level of detail that has been added to the graphics, so we won’t touch on that, what’s interesting is the announcement that there will be well over 30 new camera angles, including an eye level view from the coach’s area.

NBA 2K7 will be available for the Xbox 360 and Xbox video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft and PS2 computer entertainment system in September 2006, and will be available in holiday 2006 for the PS3 computer entertainment system. More standard-setting features will be detailed in the near future.
