Blizzard's Mike Morhaime to be inducted to AIAS Hall of Fame - Image 1With World of Warcraft as a trophy, it wouldn’t have been long before recognitions soon followed Vivendi‘s online multiplayer division, Blizzard Entertainment. And now that the MMORPG is the hottest game over PC, kudos goes to the man who pioneered it: Blizzard’s head honcho, Mike Morhaime. In that respect, the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) hopes to honor this achievement with a special treat.

Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment, has just been selected to join the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences’ (AIAS) Hall of Fame. The Academy is announcing over press wire that Blizzard’s boss will be inducted on February 8, 2008 – the night of the 11th Annual Interactive Entertainment Awards.

Morhaime will be the 11th member to be inducted to the AIAS Hall of Fame and soon stand with a slew of entertainment industry icons who have gained the honor of exclusive entry. Shigeru Miyamoto, Will Wright, and Richard Garriott are among those who’ve been voted by the AIAS Board of Directors and have received the privilege of being part of the Academy’s Hall of Fame.

The Annual Interactive Entertainment Awards will happen at the Red Rock Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, coinciding with 2008’s D.I.C.E. Summit. Morhaime is expected to join the D.I.C.E. Summit speaker lineup.
