GDC 07: Miis on the Famicom

Everybody loves Miis. Well, alright, maybe not everybody, but a lot of people sure do. Now, have you ever wondered how them little Nintendo avatars would look like if they were transported back to 1985 and onto the 8-bit Famicom (Japanese name for the NES)? Wonder no more, then. Here’s a funky little retro look at the Miis and how they looked like in their NES incarnation.

This video’s described as “early footage of the Miis on an old Japanese NES” on the GameVideos page. Apparently, this was a sort of “Mii-making” in the original Famicom‘s Disk Drive program. Sadly, no one at Nintendo thought it was such a good idea, except for Shigeru Miyamoto.
