Heavy Weapon arrives next Wednesday?

We are having a hard time checking for the authenticity of this piece and so we will just post this under rumor, ok? According to an online blog site, Heavy Weapon from developer PopCap Games will be available on Xbox Live Arcade this coming Wednesday, January 17, 2007.

In case you’re wondering why we’re giving this some weight, it’s because the owner of the blog site claims that he is well connected in the industry and in several post credit sources at various developers. True enough, the same blog was one of the first to report about Miss Pac-Man‘s release date.

Well, it’s always better to have an actual release date on our minds as oppose to just the “coming soon” phrase. After all, we’ve been talking about Heavy Weapon since E3 and we supposed it’s about time the game offers some concrete details. When it comes to reports like this, we believe that we should give or take a few days from the originally promised release date.

Lastly, regardless of when Heavy Weapon will really be available, the following are the game’s official achievements:

• Big Red Button: Go ballistic. Use your first nuke.
• Supaweapon: Collect components to complete a megalaser.
• Joint Command: Stand together with another player to complete one mission.
• Comsat Link: Play over Xbox Live with 3 other players fir at least one minute.
• World Tour: Take a tour of each read star country and trash the place. Complete the first 9 missions.
• Stockpile: Amass 5,000,000 points.
• Cockroach Freedom: Withstand 8 minutes of the red star onslaught in any survival game.
• Cannon Happy: Complete 11 missions without nukes or reinforcements.
• Ultimate Tanker: Dispel the enemies of liberty. Finish mission code.
• Freedom’s Last Stand: Defeat all 19 red star champions in boss blitz mode.
• Champion of Freedom: Survive 12 minutes of enemy attack in any survival game.
• Massive Destruction: Destroy 12 enemies with a single nuke.
