Lost Planet Goes To Mobile Phones

snowy hellAnd we all thought we pretty have a good idea for what Capcom has in store for us with its riveting sci-fi action shooter, Lost Planet. Then again, we don’t really know what’s coming until it’s come, right?

Capcom showcased Lost Planet earlier today, not just as a video game for the Xbox 360, but as a game for mobile phones as well, you heard it right. The game has been expanded to mobile phones, and will feature a storyline that complements the next-gen console version of the game, including downloadable content, multiplayer options and original gameplay mechanics.

The story unfolds smack right in the middle of an ice-veiled planet, where humankind struggles for survival as colonization initiatives clash with menacing alien creatures. Of course, it does not help at all that the planet makes for some very ruthless conditions: very cold, very unforgiving.

Here, human snow pirates navigate Vital Suits (VS) through the harsh arctic environments, battling it out against the indigenous Akrid creatures for the thermal energy they need to survive. Not only that, they also would have to contend against the devious plan being concocted by the Neo Venus Construction Corporation (NEVEC) wherein they will sterilize the world of all Akrid and snow pirates alike. The story also zooms in on the character of Wayne, a pilot who almost died, but was thankfully rescued. However, he loses a part of his memory and can only remember a few fragments of his past, including the slay of his father by these villains.

For the Xbox360, Lost Planet will boast of the following features:

  • fast-paced third-person shooter with all the depth-intrigue and intensity of a science fiction classic
  • Xbox Live enabled- an array of online gameplay possibilities awaiting, including:
    • Downloadable content such as additional maps, missions and weapons
  • Online multiplayer cooperative and versus battles with up to 16 players include:
    • Elimination – ItÂ’s every snow pirate for themselves in this death match mode where the victorious are rewarded for the most points earned.
    • Team Elimination – YouÂ’re only as good as your teammates so strategy and cooperation is key in eliminating the opposing side.
    • Post Grab – Teams are tasked with capturing and holding as many Posts as possible.
    • Fugitive Hunt – One player is assigned as the “Fugitive”, and he or she will earn points for various actions (staying alive, killing enemies, capturing Posts) Dying deducts points and winning is determined when a maximum total is reached or when the score ticks down to zero.
