Sakurai Talks Snake in SSBB, MGS4, and Game Philosophy

In HideoBlog today, Kojima Production’s Official Blog, they did an interview with Masahiro Sakurai. Sakurai is the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series and Kirby series. He now runs his own game studio called Sora and will be directing Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He was asked a variety of questions from his thoughts on how he came about getting Snake into the new Smash Bros, what he thought of the Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer, the differences of freelance game development and in-house development, as well as his thoughts on creating a “realistic” game. At the end, he gave us a bit of intriguing information. “Since Snake will be in Smash Bros. I’m going to be making new stages for him to have fun in the game.” So unlike Marth and Roy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Snake will actually have his own stage to call home in the new title!

For our PS3 readers, you’re likely wondering what he had to say about the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots trailer. He says, “It’s difficult to explain. Kind of sorrowful. Another point was of course Raiden. My impression was kind of like, ‘Raiden became like that!?'” Yeah. It doesn’t sound right when you see it in text, so you should check out the entire interview in audio form.
