Nintendo Wii news from TGS 2006

Everybody’s favorite blue hedgehog zips onto the Nintendo Wii with his trademark speed and attitude. In Sonic and the Secret Rings, Sonic travels into the world of books after the Genie in Arabian Nights tells him that the book’s last few pages have gone mysteriously blank. It’s now up to the players to help Sonic retrieve the missing pages and bring the world of the Arabian Nights back in order.

Sonic and the Secret Rings will no doubt give gamers quite a workout. Controlling Sonic involves performing a wide range of motion including quite a few specialized moves. Not only will you be enjoying classic Sonic-style gameplay, now you can really say you put your blood and sweat into finishing a game, and judging from the screenshots below, what a game it is. The 3D characters and environments are looking quite good, and we really love that shot with the setting sun. Yeah, we’re suckers for stuff like that.

Check out the screenshots from TGS 2006, and don’t forget to check out Sega‘s Sonic and the Secret Rings when it hits stores. Japanese release date is December 31 while the American release date has not yet been confirmed.
