Xbox 360 ‘Jump In’ Ad Wins Agency Award

XBox360AdA recent television advertisement for the XBox 360 was awarded a Best in Show National Prize by the American Advertising Agency.

The ad depicted a diverse group of people taking part in an urban jump-rope outing. Mark Tutssel, this year’s ADDY Awards Chairperson, said “This extreme double Dutch jump rope jam metaphorically captures the excitement and social aspect of the new generation Xbox 360…this is a beautifully crafted piece of work, and the soundtrack is inspired.”

The ad’s target audience was described as “the casual crowd.” These ad – reportedly shot in one take – tried to play up the “playful community” aspect of the XBox 360 without referencing games directly, although its difficult to know what else this device could possible be used for. The ad came out just prior to the release of the 360 in order to distance it from the original XBox’s “hardcore” fan base.

Spin worthy of the White House Press Corps…
